I swapped the wires at the coil end only. The spark plug side of the wires stayed on their respective sides, so the problem stayed with the wire and both sides of the coil are able to fire a plug. I should have been more specific - thanks for your offer of help.
It looks like Chicago BMW's list price on the wires is $70. Each. :shock:
I'll find out if Bob's has any when they open this am.

Try Beemer Boneyard for new wires. Got some from there a while back, good alternative to OE.

The wires fixed it. $60 a pair is a great deal! (actually, it sucks. Just a great deal relative to OE) I'm $150 poorer, but happy that I'm running again.
