Have my bike now since a week and it's due for service this week... clocked up nearly 1000km in 5 days of riding...Today is the second day in a week that I couldn't ride my bike and I feel like an addict graving for her drugs...

Wow... you should join the BMWMOA & register for the long distance contest. I bet you'd do very well! In B.C., at least.

Mike,

A GS and the 12R has been my secret little bit of angst for the last couple of months. It started before my most recent winter trip south. I always rent a GS on these trips and am always happy as a clam on it. To me, it's more comfortable on long trips and, for some reason, feels smaller than the 12R. I feel like I'm sitting IN the GS and ON the 12R. I've got a couple of vintage Hondas that don't get ridden nearly enough, so adding a GS to the garage (OK it won't fit in there anyway) just seems wrong. It wouldn't be polygamy, it would be bigamy. If you had to choose only one, which one would you keep?

..you could always order a copy of the 2010 Owners Calendar to stare at while you're waiting. This month, April, has a fantastic looking silver bike (can't think who's that is :) ) and a lovely blue on in July, I think.
..Could be yours next year

I have a lady friend that bought a Harley for alot of the same reasons, seat height, the look, the life style, she rode it some about 8000 miles in the 3/4 years she owned it, but she complained aout it being heavy, hard to get out of the garage, I suggested something smaller, a Buell even or a Sportster if she had to have a Harley. One day she stoped my my house and wanderd through the shop then asked if she could ride one of my BMW's, she liked the old R75/6 that I have, so I fired it up and off she went she was gone almost 2 hours, I was starting to worry, when she returned she asked if she could buy this motorcycle, I said no but how about a new one. I took her to the local BMW dealer where she traded the Harley for a new R12R, I think she put 4000 on it the first 2 months she owned it, she says it's not as pretty as the Harley but much nicer to ride.

Hehe- Ken- love your story! Sounds sooo familiar! If I am not riding on mine I go downstairs and have a look at it- at least three times a day...
