I went a different direction with my GS guards.

I made a 2 piece mount for the inside end that allowed me to have both mounts look the same and involved just a little shaping and bemding of aluminum (3/4" flat bar) and painted it to match the bike's silver parts.

I also painted the wind deflector black to match the bike. I will also apply a clear coat that should brighten up the color.

I have 2 different end cap treatments to go with the flat head screws (SS from McMaster Carr) and maybe some feedback can direct me to a selection:

Aluminum Cone washer:

Stainless steel cone washer over a black finish washer:

I sandwhiched the following parts to make the assembly, starting at the bar end weight:
1 - neoprene washer to protect bar end from scuffing and also help provide friction to hold ass'y in place
2 - SS washer that fit perfectly within the GS handguard hole to keep it centered
3 - the GS guard
4 - another neoprene washer to provide friction for finishing washer
5- aluminum cone washer or a black washer to go with the SS cone washer.

Tighten it down and it works well. I may add a few dabs of contact adhesive to add some more friction to the assembly but it all appears to work well.

I can provide suppliers and part nos. if interested.
I don't know of a break in period for life, I guess I'll just live it like I stole it.
