So I ordered a plain one (you can have an eagle, an eagle and an American flag, or an eagle and a confederate flag, if you wish), item #060073 HEADLIGHT VISOR 7" MC for $13.99 plus $6.99 standard shipping, and it arrived in only 5 days. It mounted with no difficulty, and I just took it for a night ride. It COMPLETELY SOLVES the headlight reflection problem! It also has a kind of Santa Fe Super Chief look, which appeals to my retro sense. It's a keeper! Here are pix:

Don: You remove the "chrome" plastic bezel ring from the headlight (one screw, on the bottom) and slide the visor into it from the back, using your thumbs to shape it, then you reinstall the bezel ring, using your thumbs and forcing it a bit. A tiny "lip" holds the visor firmly in place. Yes, it struck me as a bit large, too, but I quickly got used to it. Cutting it down is a possibility, but that would destroy the integrity of the chrome layer, leading to corrosion/rust. And it's so cheap we hardly need a group buy! Anyhow, it does the job for me. I like it!

Y'know, it's so easy and quick to put on / take off the visor, one could just swap it in whenever contemplating a long trip with possible night legs, and leave it off the rest of the time...

I'm waiting for Joe (ChiTown) to tell us how funny this is so then I can order one..

Inspired by Bruce's project, I decided to make my own bracket. I started with a 1 inch thick scrap of black plastic. It's Delrin, or something similar. I set the original bracket on the scrap, and scratched around it with an awl to transfer the pattern. Then I roughly cut out the shape on the bandsaw. I did the final shaping shaping on a belt sander. I finished it off by hand sanding with 180 sandpaper and drilling the holes. I clamped the original bracket on top and drilled through to keep the holes aligned. The hardest part was finding the material.
Unfortunately, I don't have a touring screen yet, but I test fitted with the bracket. This bracket was on eBay a couple of weeks ago. The seller didn't mention that it has obviously been in a accident. But at least I didn't feel too bad about having to bend the arms to make it fit. The flat part of the bracket needed to be bent upward about a half inch to allow the lower loop to rest in the lower bracket. I decided to try it out with the sport shield, since that's what I have. It gives it a sporty tilt backwards.

Nice work, that looks great. It almost vanishes, which I guess is the result we're after (secondary to the wind issue, at least).

My aluminum stilts are starting to look antiquated now...

I guess that a good R1200R rider and member of this fine forum could buy a sheet of that stuff and make several of those blocks and sell them to his buddies on the forum. More than making his money back AND earning the gratitude of the other members.

I *LIKE* it.. sorta what I've had in mind (if I didn't have a modified bracket with a longer bottom loop..)

Someone could pass it on to Wunderlich, or Cee-Bailey, or CalSci.. one of them might be interested in making it (prolly CalSci since it would make their windshield useable..)

I'll try to grind out a few more of these over the next couple of days.

I've discovered that if you have the sport screen and bracket, this mod is not really needed. That sport bracket is way stronger than it needs to be, and it works just fine without any bottom support at all. Just take the lower support off and bend the sport bracket to whatever height you like. It won't move.

I've made a few more of these this afternoon, five to be exact. Plus one shorty for experiments. These are a bit nicer than the first one, since I discovered how to wrap sandpaper around a big glass beaker to smooth the inner curved surface. All of these have been test fitted on my bike, and they fit. But don't expect perfection in dimensions or finish, these are handmade. I'm grumpy because my arms are tired from sanding, and I don't really want to be in the business of making a lot of these. So I'm overcharging on purpose, I'll take 20.00 plus 5.00 shipping. The first buyer can send the payment to our site admins to buy a site membership on my behalf. Paypal preferred please. Send me a PM if you want one.

edit, I forgot to mention, M5 X 45 mm torx head screws are included.
