I use whatever car wash soap I have on hand. I use a new microfiber cloth to wash it and a leaf blower to dry it followed by a new microfiber cloth to finish drying. Using new cloths prevents scratching. I use Collinite's Fleetwax for the main waxing and Protect-all for in between waxing.

I see torx bolts galore that require a male bit. Where are the ones that require a female bit? What's the size of the bit for the rear wheel bolts?
Just got the bike. I have cases full of metric tools but have never had a need for torx tools.

T50 for the wheel bolts. And I can't think of any female bit torx on the R12R - but if there were, usually a metric box end wrench, 12 point will work just fine. I'd suggest getting a few sets of 3/8" drive torx-drivers. Harbor Freight has them for cheap (and reasonably good), or you can spend more money with Craftsman or SnapOn. I'd also suggest picking up a set of 3 torx-screwdrivers, with T10, T15 and T25 sizes (forget where I got mine, might have been Harbor, might have been Sears - I use these all the time on the bike.)
I'd also suggest you might take a looksee at the DIY hexhead section on the BMW-MOA website.
Lots of good DIY, complete with tool listings, torque settings, etc.

The shift lever requires a female torx bit. I found that a 1/4 inch box end fits but none of my metric wrenches fit.
