BACK FROM THE DEAD!

I lost this thread and was too stupid to realize I could search for my posts! (duh!)

OK... here is what happened. I was laid off soon after the bike locked up, and was unemployed for TWO YEARS! The bike sat in storage for 2 1/2 years before I could get into it. My "bike shop" in my house in Missouri limited access to tools, I married and stayed in Fort Worth, and eventually moved my bike shop into the two car garage my wife donated to me. I finally got a teeny caught up financially and trailered the bike to the house.

I discovered the problem was the starter failed! Yes, when I went to crank the bike the starter engaged the started ring and then the starter seized! It of course gave the appearance the engine seized! I pulled the starter and shazam!!! The engine could be rotated via the rear wheel!

A new starter, a new battery, and crossed fingers that after 2 1/2 years with untreated fuel in the pump and injectors... the bike started and run smooth. Zero difference from the day I started it to ride it home from work 2 months short of being down for THREE YEARS years ago when it "seized"! That was a major (but pleasant) surprise!

Well it did!

Fixed, runs great, no issues from setting so long without fuel treatment! I am a happy camper. I am so glad when I was offered $1000.00 for it sight un-seen, after several months with no income I kept the bike.

Actually I have only had it running for about 2 months, so the update is not that stale!

Thanks to all for comments!

Thanx for the update. I remember back when the thread was active thinking that this motor needed the oil out and to be rotated at the crank. Glad things worked out so well, congrats. RR
