Good on the manual too! We got a 5-speed manual with the new Mazda. The wife had not owned a manual for years but she likes them and we got both the boys manuals for their first cars, so she was practiced! (BTW, every kid should know how to drive a stick!)
On our test drive with the 2.3L Mazda, I had a short merge lane and heavy traffic. Good excuse to romp on it!
By the time I hit 5th, I was hooked!
I work with a guy that has 'his and hers' Foresters. If they give the service my old Outback has, they should do you well. At least the new ones look better!

Vann, if you have the time and inclination, I'd like your "take" on your new Mazda 3.
The Mazda 3 and the Forester have both made my short list for car purchases. However, it seems I always end up with some sort of Toyota... can't explain it.
We had our first snow of the year yesterday. Not much, but it doesn't take much around here to create havoc. And it reminded me again how comforting it is to drive a 12-year old Subaru with 160K on the clock. Relatively fearless of minor fender-benders from the idiots on the road and I made to work on time without spinning a wheel!
One of my co-workers drove his Acura MDX. I would be scared to drive that for fear of getting whacked!

The heated seats do go over well. My wife even turns them on in the summer sometimes!! She was talk just yesterday to a coworker that does the same thing.
