ho ho ho.....who is getting the time to ride today?

On Christmas day I headed down to Stockton to visit my brother, who bought a bike less than 2 yrs ago. I have not ridden with him before.

By the time I got home to Sacramento, I ended up covering 280 miles.

Went thru Copperopolis, Angels Camp, Columbia State Park, San Andreas, Valley Springs and Lodi. There's a place just outside of Angels Camp called the Glory Hole Resort.

No kidding.

Temps between 40 and 50 here in Atlanta today. I took about a 70 mile ride down to Buckhead (near downtown Atlanta).

I was in Buckhead a few weeks ago.
It was during the, though not there for, the big food conference Atlanta was having. It was a travel NIGHTMARE!

On the upside, the Hotel errantly gave away my room so I got bumped to Club Level and premium hotel services. NNNIIIICCCEEEE.....

LATE POST: Now that I'm back from holiday travel (for dragonmojo: I was in Groveland, not far from Sonora), I can report on my December 24th ride (stupidly, without camera), in the San Diego area.

I put on all my winter riding gear and started out from the coast and headed inland. After about 30-minutes, I had to pull over and commence shedding the outer layer due to my overheating - it was about 65-F. The usual route is through Ramona, in the foothills, Hwy 67, then on Hwy 78 through Julian. At this point, it was time to put the winter gear back on, since the next leg heads to high elevation.

From there, I cut off on Hwy 79, then took the Sunrise Hwy to Mount Laguna. The climb to Laguna gets up over 6000-Ft. At the top, there is a small community and a favorite mountain top stop - the Blue Jay restaurant for a burger and beer (sorry DJ, no food photo). After some R&R and a cup of coffee, it's time to head back down. Note: there was still a bit of snow up there, and it was a sunny, cloudless day.

There is a cool factor in being able to ride from the coast to high mountains in about an hour. From Julian to Laguna and back, the twisties were a blast - there was NO traffic at all, save for one other biker in the Laguna area.

Today, we are back to winter - a monster storm is whacking California (forecast is for up to 10 feet of snow in the Sierra Nevada), and 6-12-Inches of rain in the areas where I took my sunny day ride). You gotta get your good rides when you can!
