Gypsy, you sure you haven't done this before?
Considering you're supposed to be a newbie at this, seems like you're covering all the bases.
Next you might want to check on any independant bike shops in the area that can do emergency type stuff for BMW,s, just in case. ( You know , flat tires, a qt of oil, warmer gloves, etc).
Just a thought.

A letter I received from Ron and Joan - the ones who run the Ozark Motel. (how sweet is this?)
DEAR Kristi,
Would like to put some information about your group on our website, so that others will know about your weekend in Ozark. A lot of local people check the hotel's calendar to know about groups who may be visiting.
Could we have the following items also, in addition to information about your weekend:
May we have a color picture of one of your bikes, that you would like people to see. Maybe a picture of your group on a ride, or something you would like people to see. l
We would also like to have a Link that will take them to information about your Weekend ride, as we often have people from other Groups who enjoy meeting people from other Clubs - so they can get together and swap lies.
Thanks so very much. Appreciated your beautiful pictures.

For me it's 690 miles (1,110km) and 11 hours away. I'm 90% there and would arrive Wednesday about sunset.
Gypsy was a little modest about the Motel. They have Cable & WiFi Net access;

Finally meeting & riding with WonderWoman (110 MPH with one hand!) and some of the other SouthCentral USA riders will be a big plus. The 1.5min video is great and I know who's bike that is.
If it rains we do a 6,000 mile type full service on the most needy non-ABS OilHead. I'll have all the tools needed. I'm sure we can find dry cover somewhere.
Since a multi nite Motel stay and 500+ mile commutes are involved, it's more like a Mini Fall Bash and not just a Group Ride. Let's all try and make this first time SouthCentral Bash a big one.

The best way to do any job is by doing it, hands on. What makes it possible and really easy is a basic understanding of what is essentially a very simple machine. That understanding of the basics must be clear and not just hollow memorization if you will be working on your bike. If not, you could really screw things up and likely pay for expensive damage. We can discuss any and all areas that are not completely understood. I know the frustration you face in learning the basics from when my wife tried to teach me how tennis is scored. I still can make "unforced errors" on that.
Turning the engine to TDC and the feel of the right valve clearance on the feeler gauge between your fingers. Looking at the TwinMax or CarbStyx and knowing which screw, locknut or ferrule to turn which way and how much. When you see it happen as you get your hands oily and dirty the lites should come on and the anxiety, whether it is mild or severe slowly turns into satisfaction of accomplishment. Then you can do your own servicing, know the job was done perfectly and save a lot of cash.
