Perhaps it isn't as inaccurate as it appears. Maybe that other 1/3 of a gallon was actually in that tank "pocket" opposite the fuel pickup and all that was needed was to invert the bike, shake gently and place rightside up to get the last 15 miles out of it. The manual neglects this minor detail.

I think if I'd spent a couple hours beside the road I'd be pissed too.

OTOH: As with cell phones, time to empty/flat does seem to vary, and I tend to agree with ChiTown that you were pushing your luck to bet hours at the roadside against a 5% error in the computer's range estimate.

My solution was to opt out of the computer when specifying my R1200R, instead relying on the good ol' trip meter, as I have on every other bike I've ever owned.

Under the heading "pay me now or pay me later" Running your fuel level that low is inviting grief ..fuel pumps "love"fuel they need to be surrounded by fuel to stay cool they are lubricated by the very stuff they pump ,running them low & or dry is dumb !!! if yer in the out back or up on the al-can thats different ..keep running them low boys Bosch,bmw &roadside assist. depend on you folks for their $$$$ as do I
