The waitress would be the Innkeeper's wife! Or the Innkeeper! (I forget!) Either way, you are better off daydreaming about the one from last year's breakfast! :P

OK, It's time!

Now that May is here, it's time to start talking this one up guys.

I'm coming out of my gloom and getting fired up to ride.

I plan to leave SWVA sometime Friday in am.

wncbmw, when/where you coming through?

Boxer, you still camping Thursday night at Watoga? What's your route look like that day?

Any others coming in from parts south and west of Marlinton?

Sandstone Falls (near Hinton) and the John Henry statue (near Talcott) are good sights to on the way in.

Brian,

Do that moderator magic and pull the best info from this thread into a fresh one.

Not a sticky! Most of us ignore stickies after the first view.

My plan at the moment is to leave Thursday AM and try to do a back road/slab mix to Marlinton. I guess I need to contact the Inn about a room for Thursday or make other arrangements. I don't plan to bring camping gear for one night but I may stop by Watoga for a visit! :D

Jeff - I protest! I am eagerly awaiting the camping to begin this season, with a new tent and some spiffy new dry bags! I plan to make the full size left bag conversion to make packing easier!

But I don't want to haul everything for one night!

But I have been called worse than a primadonna! And there is no denying the advancing years! But it beats the alternative!

And I already have a room at the Inn for Thursday night!

"A 'prima donna' in advancing years."

That would be a 'has-been'. But we prefer the term 'geezer'.

Excerpted from Wikipedia (and condensed to show only the good parts)

Geezer is a British slang term, in its simplest form meaning a man.

It may be used in a number of senses; to refer to a man who is overtly manly, masculine, or heterosexual, also someone noticeably capable, reliable, plainspeaking or down-to-earth.

In America, it generally refers to an old man, usually eccentric.

In Australia the term geezer can often be used to refer to someone from England, due to the belief that the English say geezer a lot; however it is not as popular as the term Pommy.

I prefer the British version but the American version perhaps applies also!

I've been called worse than eccentric also!

I just figured one night of camping in May would be nothing for the guy who camped in the winter in Montana. I thought that you were as tough as Jeremiah Johnson.

I hiked on my winter camping trips! Didn't have to load down my bike for camping for one night and slow down my back road riding!

Besides, I'm more like the old mountain man Will Geer played instead of Redford!

'Can you skin griz pilgrim?'

Today is Friday May the 4th. It is the first day of the ever popular Georgia Mountain Rally. I'm presently at work waiting for the 2:00 bell to ring so I can high-tail it up to Hiawassee with my camping gear securely attached to the back seat of the Dominatrix.

I have to return late Saturday after the traditional steak dinner. That will make it a "1-night" camp-out and one good day of riding. One night of camping on the bike is worth a thousand nights in an Inn..(Who said that?)

Rain threatens! However, we don't care. Folks have started calling it the Georgia Mountain Regatta since it rains every year.
