So far Dunlap D220 - $108 front- $115 rear + $20 each mounted w/tire off bike
Pirelli Diablo -$199 set +$25 each to mount -tire off bike- Tire on bike $100
Local BMW dealer wants $436 total and when he gave me the price I didn't even want to know the tire brand.
Anyone here know anything about either tire? They said the D220 was a touring tire. Should I look into Bridgestone Battle AX but how much more are they. One dealer had the D220 for over $150! I need at least a rear tire before I can ride again. How much did you look around before you bought?

What could be better than going on 60 yo on a BMW R1150R going on 60 mph? OK lets not get into that
try these guys, I have had very good luck with them. Any m/c shop can mount tires. Or find a buddy that does his own and He'll probably do Yours too. I mount tires for all my riding buddies. Currentl I am running the Metzler z6 tires. Stay away from the bridgestone batalax. Poor mileage and funky tread wear. Avon makes a good tire. For Me I like the Metzlers.

After much debate and research I went with the Pireli diablo strada's. The best deal I came up with was $234, not including mounting. I don't like Metzlers they cup way before they are worn out. In another life, when I raced the pirelli's and michlins were tops.

http://www.swmototires.com usually has good prices, but it looks like you are looking at a great deal already. The Pirellis have had good press.

If your tires are cupping tha badly, you need to monitor their pressure more closely.mcollect wrote:After much debate and research I went with the Pireli diablo strada's. Just (3000mi ago) changed from the Stradas back to the Pilot Roads that came with my 04R. Bought them LY when Pirelli had the buy the rear/get the front free promo.mcollect wrote:After much debate and research I went with the Pireli diablo strada's. I liked the Pirellis...I think you'll like them too.
They stuck well and were generally a good handling, quiet tire, but the rear lasted barely 8k before I was down to the cords being visible. Gotta be careful, because like the Z6, it's tough to gage the wear in the middle.
The front had more to go, but I changed out both anyway. I figger I'm not good enough to take advantage of any extra grip on the Pirellis....
The OE Roads lasted me 11500mi. They would've gone more, but I was so excited to mount my new skins I'm sure I left some rubber on...

I just got the Pirelli Strada after running Metzler Z3's then Z6's ever since I had my bike (august 2001). I am undecided on the Pirrelli's, maybe it's because I just got used to the way Metzler's handled, but I didn't get that great mileage on my last pair of Z6's compared to the original MEZ3's. Just my opinion, and you know what they say about opinions!!!
