Toll Pass carrier? Any Florida riders?
I just moved to Florida and they have an electronic pass for the toll roads, but it's this big, clunky box. Does anyone know of a case I can get to attach it to the bike w/o having to attach to the windscreen?
On another note, any Florida riders know of a BMW club around here? I'm in Boca Raton and it's nothing but old people on Harleys and teenagers on crotch rockets.

I am a Florida rider.
In Florida we use SunPass. You can get it at Publix or CVS Pharmacy.
In the past I used the Velcro and attached the SunPass to the handlebar. It fits just fine on the top of the brackets that hold the handlebar.
You can also use this one http://ascycles.com/detail.aspx?ID=1878 and Velcro to hold the SunPass. About the clubs and groups.
In your area I think they have a club:
Club: Tri-County BMW Riders, Inc., #36 founded: 8/1/1974
contact: Clark Campbell ([email protected])
828 Hansen Street
West Palm Beach, FL 33405 US
http://www.tcbmwr.org
meetings: First Sunday after the first Wednesday every month, Farmers Girl Restaurant - Lake Worth, FL
events: The "Great Gatorally" but I don't know how active they are.
Also there is a group of BMW riders in Ft. Lauderdale, that get together every Sunday at 7:00am. It will be 30 min ride south of Boca.
If you are interested, then PM me and I will give you the location.
Welcome to Florida.

I use EZ Pass in VA. I have a tankbag that I put the transmitter in the top of that and to be honest with you , I still use the "exact change" lane or "full service" because the thing doesn't always work right away and I don't feel like getting killed sitting in the EZ Pass only lane waiting for the thing to work. They do recommend that the transmitter to be put on the windshield but I do not keep my shield on year round.

You really need to be aware on the influx of people that got their driver license by taking the test in another language, rather than in English.Buckster wrote:You really need to be aware of the influx of traffic you will experience in the winter down there.
To them the sign "ONE WAY" means the name of the street, and the sign "YIELD" means to pull the window down and YELL.
Cars on the road that will not pass inspection in any other parts of US, since there is no inspection in FL, and they are riding.....
God that's so true. It's almost as bad in Florida as it was in Arizona, where I came from. The licenses there are good for nearly 50 years! I got my AZ license in 2006, and it doesn't expire until 2049! And have you all noticed that the older the driver, the more they believe the basic rules of the road don't apply to them, and that their age entitles them to do whatever they wish?
Welcome to the sunshine state it is true we have more than our fair share of really bad drivers so it is necessary to always expect the worst. As for the Sunbeemers they are in the Sarasota area, here is a link to their website.

Yer wanted by the police and my wife thinks your dead.
Welcome to Florida. I'm just south of you in Coral Springs. I put my Sun Pass in the map holder of my tank bag, works fine if you slow down to about 25 or 30 mph throught the toll. If it doesn't beep just keep moving. Better to pay a ticket than get smacked in the rear wheel. Just a little note, I try to go through intersections with a car near me so I'm more visable.
careful what you ask for

Toll Pass Carrier
I got a carrier for the electronic toll transmitter at the CycleWorld show in New York. You can choose between one that mounts to the bars or mirror stem. I got the one the mounts to the mirror stem and mounted it to the right side rear Touring shield mount. Here is a link which shows the product:

Before I bought the mount I used the duo-lock tabs on the windshield, I was looking for something less obvious.

I just put my Toll Pass in my jacket pocket.
The readers have no trouble reading as I pass under the overhead RFID reader.

I have to deal with the Illinois Tollway from time to time and have mounted the I-Pass onto the top of the master cylinder for the front brakes with 3M Dual Lock. It stays there at more than legal speeds and is easy to remove for more than four years.
