Helmet with Chin Bar

Some time ago someone posted a photograph of a new style helmet being sold in Europe. If my memory serves me it was similar to a 3/4 helmet but it had a metal chin bar for face protection. It looked like a very interesting summer option for face protection while having a little more freedom.

Has anyone seen this helmet in the US yet?

I think the helmet you are talking about is the Schuberth J1.

Unfortunately, doubtful you will get one in the states. But they would work for a trip to Mars also.

Thanks for checking into that. It would probably be almost $800 by the time it got here. Does anyone on here use this helmet? With this kind of investment for a helmet I would love to hear someone's personal experience.

I heard back from the seller about approval for roads in the US:

The helmet has not been submitted for US DOT or Snell approval.

It is essentially a European helmet which meets the European ECE R22-05 safety standards.

We can supply you with the helmet no problem so long as you understand that it does not have DOT or Snell approval.
