Just got a call from my dealer and the R1200R will be ready for delivery about 4:00pm today. While the weather isn't great, it will be good enough to make the 50 mile trip each way. Yippee!!

Congrats on the new bike! Now you have to be tame and use that will power until it's broken in.

Where are you buying it from - Morton's or Bobs?

I responded to your earlier post, but I don't see it anywhere. So I'll reply again... I bought the R12 at Morton's, as it's easier for me to get there than it is for me to get to Bob's BMW, - I've been a long time customer at Morton's and know a lot of the folks there.

Anyway, the bike's in the garage, but I'm still missing the Cee Bailey's windshield, the Givi topcase and the tank bag. Other than that, and the crummy weather, I'm loving it! Very quick, smooth transmission and only a $200 increase in my insurance premiums. What's not to like?

Congrats on the new bike!

Morton's is a good place to deal with.

I've had mixed luck with tankbags, but I am very pleased with the BMW one for the R12R. If that is the one you have on order I think you will like it. Good volume, handy pocket on the back, and (very important to me) it is easy to move aside when you go to fill the tank.

Thanks for the input on the BMW tank bag. Like you, I've had mixed results with various tank bags. The one I have on order isn't the BMW bag, but you have given me reason to re-think my decision. I was initially put off by the price, but I'm thinking now I'll go back to Morton's (when the wx allows) and take another look at the Beemer Bag. BTW, I like dealing with Morton's also...

Go ahead and nail it... Motoman break-in style. I have been doing that (always after a proper warmup before high power runs) for years before anybody every heard of Motoman breakins!.

My RR uses no oil to speak of after the first 600 mile checkup and I now have 2800 wonderful miles on it.

Have a great time playing with the RR !

Oh yea: Permagrin is a major problem on this bike; your face will be constantly sore

yep.. I am a ham geek too! One of many hobbies! I confess I am working on interfacing my intercom to a 2 meter/440 transceiver !

Doug, great review on the other site. Quick question on the Cee Bailey shield - with the 18" or 20" are you still looking over the shield or are your looking through the shield when riding?

Another tank bag to look at is the Wolfman Explorer Lite. I transferred it from the 12GS to the R1200R and it works great. It fits well and unclips easily for fill-ups. I like it as it holds quite a bit but is not too tall.

I look about 2" or so over the 20" and maybe a little more with the bar risers and pullback on it, which is perfect for me.

The plan for really hot weather here in south Louisiana is to cut down the BMW sport screen a little and get my helmet in clean air.
