Summer Pants

Post by Max Continuous »

I am sure this topic has been beaten to death and yes I have tried the search function. For some reason however, searching "pants" brings up everything from synthetic oils to battery tenders but no pants. I know it has been discussed so perhaps I need an education on the art of fine tuning my search.

Just wondering if anyone has anything good or bad to say about the BMW City or Summer pants. I have the Olympia Airglides, however I want a more casual jean replacement rather than over pant. The Olympia Mustang looks appealing also. Anyone have any experience with those?
Draggin Jeans don't count. I prefer hip and knee protection.

If you know of a thread about this already, feel free to give me a boot up the backside in that general direction.

Thanks.

Summer Pants

Post by motorrader »

I have the BMW City pants, They are comfortable with good protection and look good. They are a bit warm in high temps. I have the BMW summer pants and had a major crash with them. No damage to me below the waist and they are a bit cooler. Never tried to use them as shorts.

Thanks Motorrader

I am happy to hear that you faired well from a crash. Thanks for the point on staying cooler with the Summer Pants. I can't see myself wearing them as shorts but I guess you could let some air in if you were overheating.

Are both pants of the same cut? I mean are they as equally comfortable to wear? Aside from the temp, of course.

Cheers

The Summer pants are cut tighter, The City Pants are more roomy.

I know you dont want to consider the draggin jeans due to wanting knee and hip protection. I purchase the CE approved knee amor for my draggin jeans and on long trips take the hip armor out of my Olympia Ranger overpants and put it in the draggin jeans.

Max,

I wear the summer pants year round. Love them so much, I have two pairs, one in tan, the other black. They come with knee pads and you can add hip protection with an optional set of pads. If you do, make sure you size the pants with the added hip pads attached because as motorrader mentioned, they are cut tighter and the pads will take up room.

I have Draggin jeans, and BMW Savanna2 pants.
The Savannas have zip vents on the legs, and they fit very well.
They are my preferred summer pants.

Max: I bought a pair of the new Tourmaster jeans last fall. CE armor in the knees, leather liner in the butt and kevlar stitching throughout. Only worn them a few times thusfar but I really like them!
