OK here goes. Aftermarket Exhaust.........anyone???

Post by motorradguy »

I think (believe but am trying to confirm) that the can is the same as the ST. Which if it is, opens up doors immediately to exhausts. While the stock can is cute, this bike yells for an upgrade.

I'll take any and all offers

Akrapović and Laser makes sport exhausts that are certified by BMW. Your BMW dealer should be able to order one for you.

Sport exhausts for the ST should work technicaly, since it's pretty much the same engine, but the mounts are probably not the same.

Staintune make a pipe for the R1200GS, so may fit the R.
The 1150R & GS exhaust are the same, so maybe the 1200 as well.??

This might look good... it's a Lavizzari exhaust..my local dealer just put one on a Guzzi Griso..and it looks like it would fit the R..I thought it looked cool.

"No downpipe unit for R1200R yet.
Slip ons are available."

There from I believe that the cans are compatilbe with ST, RT or GS;
but not the down pipes....

Remus has in stock complete systems for the R1200R, head pipes , cans everything, in fact several types of cans are available. Call the parts dept at San Jose BMW and tell them that Dean sent you. Maxmoto, the Remus importer works very close with San Jose BMW on their racing program and several other projects.

Hé there Keyser very interesting to hear your one of the first that has fitted an aftermarket system. Also nice to hear you love your R1200R, what did you ride before the Beemer?Your link doesn't work though witch is a real shame as I'm realy interested in the Remus exhaust. Do you have the powercone system?

Remus power cone Ti, with down pipes and connector.

Remus power cone Ti, with down pipes and connector.
Was going to take it to the shop but they were too busy.
I installed it my self yesterday after noon. Easy.
First impresion:
The powerband is increased, the top does not hit as hard as before
becouse there is more power at the low end.
I hit the rev limiter several times with out intending to.
The power delivery I feel is smoother, everything just happens
a lot quicker than it used to.
I am happy with the sound.
Will post picturesand sounds when I figure out how....
Saludos

Hi Israel that's exactly the set up I am thinking about to(although probably will fit the slipon first). Can't wait to see some descent pics of this system mounted on the R. I've also sent you a PM.

BOS is worth a look...

Post by rivi7777 »

I like these BOS exhaust systems for the BMW boxers. I'm strongly thinking of gettin' a full system for my GS...

The Bos systems are quite nice. My dealer where I got my R from lends BMW's to Bos(witch is a Dutch company) for final fitment try outs. They also had an R1200S with cf endcans witch look very nice. Only differance between the two end cans is the style the GTS has the carbon end cap. I'm also very curious and hoping that Laser is going to do a cf can in the same style that they use on the van Harten R1200S.They have the hotcam model and duotech model available but there's also a new style witch would look awesome on the R.Sadly there aren't any pictures on the web to show but in the new magazine ads they are already showing off the new cf style.

I rode up to Cheaha Mtn. over the weekend. I started from the gas station past 29Dreams and took the backroads past Lake Martin up to the "Pig Road". I was sooo pissed that "they" put a layer of pebbles over the asphalt (to make people go slower or wreck) that I only took one pass and then took the highway back. It was a highspeed run though (100-130) all the way back to Birmingham. I then rode to school the next day traveling a total of 183.1 WFO miles ,she took 5.363 gallons of gas!!! Which is 34.1413388 mpg. Not bad at all!!! Also ,the computer seems to have adjusted to the new Remus Powercone full system and the white-tan has turned to tan-brown!!! The backfiring is almost nonexistant on decel...She just needed to be "throttle tuned"!

P.S. The pipes are slightly gold fading to silver. No blue at all! I'm in love...
