Rick Mayer seat??

Post by Rockosmith »

Has anyone had any experience with Rick Mayer cycles and the custom seats they build? Any comments regarding quality of the product and how they are to work with would be appreciated.

Well, I've got a Bill Mayer that I bought used and it made a world of difference.

I doubt that you'll regret purchasing either one of their saddles.

I am extremely satisfied with my Rick Mayer seat. Good build quality, excellent materials, very comfy. On my other bike I had a Russel, also very nice, but about twice the cost. For the money, the Rick Mayer is a much much better deal. For even money, it would be close. Rick's dad is the one that developed the seat that Russel uses, so his seat is similar.

I received my Rick Mayer in July and have put about 3000mi on it since. Cannot recommend it enough. My wife loves riding two up now. Excellent workmanship and doesn't look "goofy" on the bike. If you are thinking about one, order now becuase the backorders were at 12 weeks. May be quicker for you now that the weather is starting to change. Just for reference I am 5'10" 185lbs.

I'm fortunate to live close enough to Anderson, CA to pay a visit (which I have not done yet) to discuss the problem I'm having with the stock saddle. My BMW dealer in Chico (which is just this side of Anderson) highly recommends him, and I trust what these guys tell me (since '83).

Got mine in May of this year, did 8000 miles in 32 days during the month of June. Perfect.

I had the front rebuilt and the back recovered only, so that they would match.

It looks a bit odd at first, but you get over that when on your first long day
you feel so good at the end.

It also feels a bit hard at first, though not uncomfortably so; then once it softens up a bit, it really is plush.

Rick has it figured out. Great saddle, great price.
