No Hits
No hits on anyone but we asked and nobody stepped up to plan, organize, take the heat, do the deed. The real reason that we end up in WV and OH (and NC the first year) is because the person who made the effort ended up picking the spot.
This year we waited for any takers on Finger Lakes (spring 07) or North Alabama and there just wasn't any leader opting in. Meanwhile, the replies favoring WV and Old Clark Inn added up sufficiently to get us to commit a year in advance.
I'd love to go North and South with a sufficient reason to meet and exchange friendships like those I've formed around these parts. But I cannot extend that into taking the responsibility as a planner/organizer.
That said: Old Clark is a commitment I have made. If a 3rd week in May venue develops elsewhere, I will support it and make my peace with Nelson on the side.

Big Foot in the area
I was looking at Marlinton on Google Earth and on other web sites to see about fishing in that area in case I decide to make it to the bash and I ran across an article that might interest those of you who are going to attend. It is greatly influencing my decision.
It's strange, but here it is::shock:
The BFRO (Bigfoot Field Research Organization) has had a sighting of Bigfoot just 12 miles from Marlinton.
Here's the report:

Kristi,
We rode through the area about a week after the Bigfoot sightings. I guess I will have to pay more attention next time.
It also eliminates the possibility of them seeing Al frollicking in the woods.
I saw more people fishing near Marion, VA, but it is only about 2-3 hours from Marlinton. And it was cold the 2 times I have been through Marlinton.

I have two friends (an old couple) that rode their ST1300 and 919 Hondas from Glen Gardner New Jersey just to spend 2 days with us in our new home. Jim said there are great roads everywhere in WV. He knows the area and the place we are staying in and wants to join us! Some of you Beaksters may remember Jim as our group leader to Miller's in Lancaster PA or our trip to Phoenicia NY. I finally wore him down to buy a new, fuel injected, sport touring bike, and he is estatic about his blue ST1300's performance and it's 7 gallon fueltank. If there is room for 1 more, he'd like a matress and a 2 wheel parking spot next to the OilHeads.

Some Data
Since I'll be going to Watoga soon, I plan to visit Nelson at the Old Clark Inn and firm up some details.
Here is what is developing.
1) I am renting the house under a single, whole house rate. It will hold 13 sleepers as follows: 5 private room/private bath; 4 private room/shared bath; 2 double rooms (4 persons total)/shared bath. Nelson offers to configure the rooms to hold up to 19 people, but frankly, looking at the floor plan, I do not see where he puts them. However, if that develops favorably, there will be an additional option for pricing along the lines of overflow cot sleepers/no bath or something like that.
2) I'll be asking for early commitments as I distribute these rooms. Minimum 2 nights (Friday and Saturday) total (2 night) pre-paid costs including tax and the Breakfast part of the B&B rate will be (per person):
Private room/private bath -- $70
Private room/shared bath -- $60
Shared Room/shared bath -- $50
3) Once the 13 people are in; Nelson sends overflow guests to the next B&B (down the street) I do not know the rate for that yet.
4) Other lodging in or near town includes the River Place, Marlinton Motor Inn, Watoga State Park (cabins and camping) and Snowshoe Lodge.
More to follow....
Addendum #1:
Private rooms/private baths can accomodate two persons (presumably a male/female combo but not required) There is one bed in the private rooms but a cot can be added. For the cot, the charge per person becomes $45//$90 total instead of $70 total for the room. (Chris Hibbert see my email and disregard this version.)

Mike - I said I was in one page 1 of the thread. What am I in for?
I would go for a shared bath but while I shared a bed with my wife when I was there, I don't plan to do the same with any of you!
Paypal will go out as soon as you need it.

All In - UPDATE
No private rooms remain. No private rooms with a shared bath remain. No shared rooms remain.
We've currently filled the house with early registration. WoW! Thanks.
I will quickly (like this weekend) get details for how we handle overflow into the other places:
Nelson does overflow at the next door B&B (details to follow).
OR make your own arrangements at Watoga (cabins/camping), Marlinton Motor Inn, River Place or Snowshoe Lodge....
http://www.pocahontascountywv.com/plann ... ging1.aspx
but I can try to negotiate a group rate at River Place if you wish....let me work it some.
Gang, thanks for the quick responses. Reserved folks thanks for the Paypal's...that was alarmingly quick. Once Paypal settles out the accounts, I will transfer to an escrow account and pay Nelson the reserved house fees.[/url]
