I reckon the K1 bar would be interesting............but 8 hours!! It really should have been just an hour - fitting them should be a straight swap.
An alternative would be what was called in England the 'standard bar' which was fitted to the regular 'roadsters' /6, /7, R100S / CS series bikes. They are available from http://www.motobins.com in the UK for less than $50. I fitted a pair of these to an 92 R100R for a more traditional look.

The K1 bars come in black only. The Mystik has the same bar in chrome, 81- 84 R100CS is narrower and only in chrome, The R65LS is the same low bar as the 1955-1973 models in europe but to narrow to fit the hand control and only in black, the european sidecar bar from 55-69 is very close the the Rockster bars but chrome only. As you can see I have looked at a lot of them as well I have a few of them in stock. The R100CS bar would work if they were available painted. Anyone find an aluminium handlebar?

If using Rnethal (or similar) you must not drill them under any circumstances (for heated grips). In fact they tell you to be carefull when tightening anuything around the bar to ensure that the clamp has no sharp edges as even that can weaken the bar.
If using the regualr diameter Renthal bar you will require a crossbrace model. Tapered bars are superb (just like KTM fit) but will require some sort of adaptor.

I believe the K1 bar is the same as the Rockster. I like the the Renthal bars and I am sure I can come up with a bar weight that will work and maybe a throttle lock as well.
My bike is being picked up tomorrow to be shipped out the the BMW ON International Rallyin Vermont for part of our display.
When I get it back I will look into the Renthals somemore. Blue would be cool.

R1150R Bars
I've just fitted R1150R bars and am very pleased. It's much more crutch friendly and the sit up position gives you much more visibility and control. It even feels a bit like a big trailie! Havent tried them on the motorway though!

The K1 bar must be a good couple of inches narrower each side. Definately not the same bars.bmweuro wrote:I believe the K1 bar is the same as the Rockster.
