That happened to me, too. A white plastic grocery store bag blew onto my pipes.

I tried all sorts of things. What worked best for me was a combination of very fine steel wool (000 I believe) and a solvent called Toluene. (careful - it is a very hazardous chemical).

It takes time to get it off. Some of it burns off, but not all of it.

EDIT: I checked in my garage and the solvent I used is Xylene, which I think is similar to toluene. Same warnings apply.

just a though on the toulene and anyone correct me if im wrong...

Make sure the pipes are cold (not just cool but dead cold) cuz you dont want that stuff to vaporize AT ALL!!!

Use it outside not a "well ventilated area" but out doors

Wipe everything off then rinse it off with a wet towel a couple times and le dry completely like overnight at least

The other option would have been for you to slip on the bag and crash!

Go and light a candle to your favourite god that instead of the above all you have to do is to clear some plastic!

Rafael,
Funny, I was there this morning also about 11:00. Rode up and then back down and home/to work. I'll be there Saturday about 12:00 with cigars. Hope to see you then.

I had a plastic bag hit my right header a few months back on the highway and of course it stuck and melted. I took a wire brush to get the large chunks off then 'burnt' the rest off.

I bought some Simichrome polish with the idea that I would polish the headers back to the nice consistant chrome but have not gotten around to it.

There is a product out there called something like "Bartender's Best Friend" Its a scouring powder and works great on stainless steel. Besides cleaning, it shines your pipes up nice. Won't get rid of the blue, but again does clean and polish stainless.
