Laser Dual Tech Exhaust

Post by Pussy »

Guys,

Just wanted to keep you in the picture as to add ons I've used and their quality.

I fitted a Laser Dual Tech pipe a few months ago for more power and less weight as well as more noise. I picked it versus a Staintune as Laser appear to do the Boxer cup race series pipes. I had it fitted and since have had a few quality issues. Mainly the fit between each section is poor resulting in noisy leaks. These have been fixed with Holts exhaust gum although I may not be able to undo this. Does anyone know if this can be done?

Worse the removable 'legal' baffle doesn't fit well inside the pipe and leaks internally resulting in an awful farting noise on the move. This took ages to find! The 'sport baffle' works OK but isnt anything to write home about. In the end I've removed all baffles and it runs fine and sounds great.

The other thing is the chrome quality. My pipe is only a few months old and looks awful with bluing and staining all over. Lastly the left side pannier rubs the can. it hasnt melted yet but we shall see.

Otherwise it works well with useful power gains across the range and it sounds pretty good although not as loud as a stage one HD which I had before.

I regret now not taking an Aussie friends advice and getting a Staintune. During a recent trip to Aus all the bikers there raved about them.

I hope this is useful if any of you are thinking about a new pipe for the summer.

Anyway my bike arrives from Singapore in the UK end April so hope to see some London Rocksters over the summer.

Puss.

Thanks for the info...

I've fitted Sebring Y-pipe&silencer recently... no problems with install, and it looks&sounds pretty good... so far so good.... and costs about 2/3 of Laser (in Poland...)

I know the Staintune does not require repacking. Does the Remus>? Had a Staintune on my K75S & loved it. Perfect fit, no maintenance, more power, good sound.

Thats really strange,

because. I've had the laser hot-cam setup on my rockster for 2 years.
Its a full system with headers and matching chip.
The power gains are INSANE. I feel like I'm pumping out 95HP, but thats might be just in my head, or not.

quality is great. I had the muffler exchanged under warranty, because the bracket holding it broke, and it shook the packing out, but since that...I've been very happy with it.
I lost my center stand, but thats it. I lined the inside of my panniers with silver reflective tape, and use them regularly with no problems.
The left side rear blinker gets some exhaust deposit on it, but again, I'm running stock turn signals in the rear, which is NOT recommended, if you run the HotCam setup. Nor are the luggage on the left side.,
Bottom line: I've had the laser race system on my R1100S, and now on the rockster, and for power gains, you just cant beat the laser exhaust setups. Now, if I was going for sex appeal, then I'd definitely go with the remus carbon fiber can...

but pure preformance, I'm sold on the Laser!

Arbi,

Mines the Laser Duo Tech, so cant comment on the hotcam. There are power gains but the rest is poor. I have never heard a bad woord about Staintune though so maybe next time!
