rear drive shimming not correct

In getting ready for Daytona on Saturday I refit a new tire and wheel to my Rockster. After properly torquing the rear wheel one of my friends grabbed the wheel at 12 and 6 position and rocked it. It looks like .010"-.015" movement. I called my dealer Mathias BMW and headed down there Monday. The shimming for some reason had come loose. The technician said it could've been due to the covers are aluminum type material and give a little. The bike only has 38,000 miles. I am disappointed that I've had this problem and a transmission output shaft seal repaired also. Honestly I like BMW's and all my friends I hang with like them but I could've bought a lot less expensive bike with chain drive and been able to fix it myself (chain/sprockets). I think BMW puts more emphasis on technology and how they can wow the public rather than more straightforward simple designs. Has anyone else had rear drive problems on their Rockster or Roadster? It wasn't that long ago many BMW's were experiencing rear drive bearing failures... Wardieone

had the rear driveshaft seals done at 9000, noticed in penn.on the way back from road atlanta . stopped at a dealer there(freddy's?) filled it back up. not an uncommon prob. he said, anyway long ride home thinking of oil on my back tire. live near boston,ma. fixed under warranty no prob. i hear what your saying.
