That's right boxerboy...and I just got back...12 hrs in the saddle....5.30am-5.30pm... :D ...just trying to download my pics now before hitting the sack.

The 'Prom'....another one of Australia's little bits of paradise...it's a very special place that if dinosaurs still lived down under..they'd live there for sure.

This is me this morning at 5.30am..just about to hit the road...and perfect weather was forcasted...well the weather map looked good...( and it was good )

About one hour into my ride the sun started to come up...nice sunrise.

Image

The early morning sun shining over the hills near Leongatha.

Image

First stop..breakfast (bacon and egg muffins) I think I was their first customer for the day.

Image

Just a couple of big signs in Leongatha.

Image

Image

Time to fill up...$130.90 per litre..SHEESH!!!...that' just not fair.

Image

Just cows in a paddock in the early morning sun.

Image

First road kill...(not by me)...poor little Kangaroo..sad..even more sad was that she had a Joey..and still alive in the pouch..it must have just happened...

I dragged it off the road so it doesn't get hit again..I let the Roo Doctors know..and on my way back it was gone..I hope they saved the Joey.. :(

Image

Wild flowers on the side of the road.

Image

Just exploring a bit near Fish Creek.

Image

Found this house with all this old junk out the front.

Image

I took this pic for Darth...I know you like license plates.

Image

Just passing through Yanakie.

Image

Here I am at the Prom...Wilsons Promontory.

Image

Check out those prices to get in...ain't bikes great... :D

Image

Time to check out the wildlife.

Image

These orange wild flowers...I think they're called Kangaroo Paws.

Image

Image

These long black things...I think they're called Kangaroo tails.

Image

Image

These small black things...Kangaroo Poo..(poop).. :D

Image

Where there's Kangaroo poo..there's Kangaroo's...I think this one wanted to box me.. :D

Image

I got a bit too close...and he was off...... :D

Image

I saw a few Emu's..so I did a bit of GS'ing on the RR.

Image

There's two Emu's up ahead.

Image

Emu poo..yuk..lucky I didn't put my foot in that.. :D

Image

Anyway...that's about half my pics...time for a snooze...I'll post the others tomorrow.

Ok..after checking the bottom of my boots it was back on the road through the Prom.

Image

Nice little river.

Image

Heading up now...over the hills and towards the coast.

Image

First view of the ocean.

Image

Another view of the coast line...hate those fences.

Image

Whisky beach was the first beach...so I checked it out.

Image

Down the track to the beach.

Image

Over a little bridge.

Image

Here's Whisky beach.

Image

The next beach was Squeaky beach.

Image

Rocks on the beach.

Image

Here's Squeaky beach...btw...it's call that because it squeaks when you walk on the white sand.

Image

Back on the road...heading up to Mt Oberon.

Image

Wildlife warning signs everywhere.

Image

This was as far as I could go at the top...lots of walking tracks.

Image

Coming back down...it's a great road for bikes.

Image

My last stop at the Prom was a place called Tidal River...I rode down and along the river...and did a few donuts.

Image

This is the beach at Tidal River.

Image

Ok...now I'm on my way home...just left the Prom...flying over this rise and find a road full of cows running towards me...

I hit the brakes hard and stopped...should I turn around...stay on the bike...or hop off and runaway.. :D

Image

They seemed a little spooked by the bike..and soon passed..without knocking it over...very lucky.

Image

Glad to see the rear end of those cows.

Image

Fire warning signs are everywhere.

Image

My next stop was Sandy Point..and more beach riding..what a hoot!

Image

I used to love doing these donuts on my dirt bikes..it's a little harder on the RR....and no I didn't drop it.. :D

Image

In case you're wondering...it says no BAIT pumping.. :D

Image

Here's wishing I had knobby tires.

Image

Mmmmm Donuts mmmmm!

Image

Back on the hard stuff and heading home.

Image

I passed a big fish on the roof of a pub...really.

Image

A cannon.

Image

Time for a bite to eat at Henriettas at Leongatha..no I couldn't park any closer.. :D

Image

Hot home made scones and strawberry jam...and real coke in a glass bottle...nice.

Image

How good is that..mmmmm.

Image

Cheers!

Image

Back home in my own driveway...what a great day...hope you enjoyed my pictures.

Great tale and pictures as usual. You sure you don't work for Aussie tourism. You are a natural. Thanks, Jack

Fantastic DJ...we're living vicariously in OZ through your pictures!

What a beautiful country, and a perfect place to ride.

Thanks for taking the time to take the pics, narrate and post them!

Nice report, nice.

Thanks for taking the time and sharing with us DJ. With this frigid weather it helps to see someone getting to really enjoy a ride.

Your pictures are great.

DJ - outstanding job as usual. Who else would get the bike in a fuel up picture and an emu poo picture and make it interesting! Do you ever get into trouble manuvering the bike into some of those places for shots?

I have said it before and will say it again, you should be on the payroll for the Aussie tourism board!

We all know how time consuming it can be to get off the bike, take off the gloves/helmet, take out the camera and take pictures...And you manage to take good pictures, too! I bet the flip face helmet makes it a little easier and faster... Great ride and great pics. In three words: YOU ROCK DUDE!
