Opinions sought on AGV helmets
I'm thinking about maybe buying another helmet for next year...for some reason, the AGV helmets really appeal to me.
Your thoughts regarding their comfort/noise/model preference/etc. would be welcome.
Thanks.

I've tried them all, and AGV is where I've landed. My TiTech is by far the lightest & nicest $$$ helmet yet - although I nearly bought an Arai XD. The AGV is smaller than either Shoei or Arai - so make sure you can try it on or possibly swap out for the proper size - especially the TiTech runs even smaller than the normal AGV. The shield can be changed with bare hands in 30 seconds, the vents work well, and the finish is A+. Arai & Shoei are up there also, but the AGV has that Italian "something" that makes it very desirable, even AFTER you've purchased it & worn it. I'm a huge believer in buying the best I can possibly afford, so I searched for the TiTech & found a new one on eBay for under $300. I don't need a Rossi replica paint job, but knowing I'm wearing the best never hurts. Quite a step upfrom my Schuberth Concept (one I very much enjoyed), which was heavy but feature laden.

I'm no expert but I put them in the middle of the range of helmets out there.
Also the make a big range from cheap and crappy to pretty good.
I don't think they're renowned for being very quiet..but the venting seems ok.
Which model are you looking at...is it the graphics that attract you to them?
Sorry I'm not much help..maybe others will know more....Dallara....is a week up yet?...

I currently have Shoei Z-II...its the only helmet I've had since I really started street riding on a full time basis (I rode a little in the mid '90s but not enough to "count"...it was dirt riding back then).
Without a baseline, I couldn't give this Shoei higher than a grade B...comfort and fit seems fine but it does whistle every now and then. The Z-II is a discontinued model I think.
Safety would of couse be my first criteria...then comfort and quite next.

AGV Helmets
DJ has it "bang on". The cheapo models are like cheapo models of anything: cheap
The "top of the range" models are a different story. Very good indeed. Make sure you "try before you buy" though. The cheek pads should feel a little tight at first as they "wear in" with use.
One final point, if you wear spectacles you may find there is not enough room for the arms. Arai are much better in this respect.
Hope this helps. Si

Ditto on wot Simon says. The cheek pads are replaceable w/ different sizes. Sunglasses are a tight fit.
Cheap helmets aren't necessarily cheap in the protection department, but almost always in the fit/finish/comfort/noise factor. The top models of Arai/AGV/Shoei/Schuberth/Shark are all top drawer.

Helmets, especially the graphics, are a highly personal choice. I pretty much wore any lid for years until I tried my first Aria. One - they offer several different shapes and I found one that was just a perfect fit in the Quantum series. Two - the noise and wind resistance seemed far superior to any other helmet I had used. Finally, the helmet seemed much lighter. Won't wear anything else now. Sort of like my riding gear - I only wear Dianese. But like I said - its highly personal and definitely a matter of taste. BTW, worse crash I ever had (drunk driver ran red light in front of me - over the bars, cleared the intersection minus the KZ) was wearing a rather cheap AGV - landed mostly face first and the helmet did its job. Walked (limped) away with broken collar bone and broken wrist.

If they aren't any quieter than a Shoei, I probably need to look elsewhere. If I stick with Shoei, I'll probably go with the RF-1000.
What caught my attention on the the AGV is that motorhelmets.com (where I bot the Shoei), is offering the Ti-Tech and XR-2 models at 25% off retail. I just called two local dealers...neither carries the AGV.
I see one Ti-Tech fan.
