New 1150R Owner????
I just picked up my used 02 1150R today with only 1400 miles on the clock. The bike has a complete 2Brothers exhaust system (sounds nice) and Bmw hard bags, different front shield and heated grips. Very nice indeed! Couple questions for those in the know. What is the part # for the GS handguards? How about the part # for the peg lowering kit? Also I do my own maintenance and what is the best service book for these? Clymer, Chilton, factory? Is there a BMW dealer that offers 20% discount on internet orders? And along the same, who are some of the best dealers to order parts from? And last for now, I want to swap seats with a Rockster owner for the tall seat and was wondering if you swap the rear seat also or just the front. Thanks for replies, Rethy

Manuals
Hi Rethy:
I'm also relatively new to the RR and do my own maintenance. For my wife's F650 and the GS I owned prior I liked the Clymer manual. For the RR I have the factory manual and downloaded the Oilhead Maintenance Manual as a companion. I've done most of my 12,000 mile service using the two and, other than some questions about tranny oil, been successful
Anyway that's my 2 pennies worth, and here's the link for the oilhead manual if you are interested.

Welcome
You don't need to buy any aftermarket manual. This site has a link to useful maintenance methods and service/inspection requirements as does ADVRider.com, BMWRT.com, K-bikes.com and IBMWR.org among others. Research, read, print out-you'll get everything you need.
Max BMW (google Max parts fiche) has schematics and part numbers for every model. So does at least one other site I cannot recall right now. Google BMW parts fiche.
Chicago BMW offers 20% off and a fixed shipping fee if you know your part number(s). You can also call and discuss things with the parts guy if he's not busy.
Sierra, San Jose, Bob's are all good dealers for mail order. As are many others, but that's who I have dealt with via internet.
My dealer is fantastic. That's Morton's (Fredericksburg, VA) or Carolina (Greensboro, NC) depending on which bike we are discussing.
Have lots of fun!
