You'll love it! I promise.
Two interesting things about it I have learned about the new screen since last posting about it...
One - If you are cruising at triple-digit speeds for miles on end (like Dean and I did on the last stretch of the Big Bend ride) and you have a tank bag... You can rest your head on the tank bag to give your neck a break and look right through the screen, which little if any distortion, and you will have a calm, quiet cocoon to bop along at 120+ MPH in...
Two - This Big Bend trip was really the first chance I had gotten to run the R-1150-R all the way out on the big-end with the new screen but *NO* bags... I'll be damned if all tucked in, under the paint, behind the new screen, I actually picked up about 2-3 MPH on the top end over the flyscreen!
That's right... My Beak actually went faster with the larger, new screen on it than it ever has either "naked" or with the flyscreen... and I was at a much higher altitude than where I normally ride. I can't wait to get the calibrated speedo or GPS on it down here, on a loooooooong stretch of road, and find out how much I have really gained.
With the flyscreen, and no bags, here in South Texas, the most my bike had ever indicated on the stock speedo was right at 130 MPH, which worked out on the calibrated speedo to about 123-124 MPH. I saw a stock speedo indicated 133-134 MPH or so out in Big Bend... So I guess the new screen cleans up the airflow some on the R-1150-R and puts the air around my rather large carcass better...
Cheers!
