Hyperlites Brake Lights Installation

After improving the forward visibility with LED floodlight Handguards I wanted to improve the woeful brake light on the 1150.
I have installed many sets of these with great success: http://www.hyperlites.com/

Rather than take apart the tail section for routing the wires I slipped a hanger through a couple gaps. Either I'm getting wiser or lazy...your call.

As usual the manufacturer did not protect the full length of wire (top light). Shrink tubing and a heat gun fixes this easily (bottom light).

Drilled a .250" hole in the corner just above the right top license bracket screw. Mounted the Hyper bracket to the lower holes and through the fender with 1/4-20 stainless screws and Nyloc nuts. Run the wires through the hole and tape them to the hanger hook and pull them up top. They come out just in front/ right of the tail light assembly. I mounted the lights to the inside of the bracket for protection and a cleaner look.

Fortunately there is plenty of room under the tail light lens assembly for the wires and control box. The kit comes with awesome posi taps and instructions on which wires to tap into. I installed the little controller high against the fender plastic. You can chose to cut the green loop if you want the brakes to flash then go solid. I always leave mine as constant flash.

This is the running lights. When the brakes are applied they flash fast and insanely bright, just like the video on the website.
These systems are extremely durable. I had two LED's fail on a module after several years and they sent a new one immediately.

When i get to the UK for my summer hols on the Rockster that I just bought, I'll be brightening-up its rear end with cheapo LED strips and an additional red truck-style brake lamp, just like I've done on my suparb Spanish Honda NC750 6-speed automatic transmission bike :-

Here in Spain we have the most dozy cagers you can imagine, highly likely to rear-end you in a sudden stop. So I sought out from The Bay the most economical no-LED-driver-required Lamp kit to dazzle them whenever I put the rear brake on.

These LEDs only sip juice, so no drivers or relays required, just break into the relevant power feeds to the bike's lamps. Suitable for any bike, altho' some here who produce much more elegant solutions might find my lump of flat bar bolted under the Givi topbox bracket rather unassuming !

Incidentally, remember that now "PhotoBucket" is no good for posting 3rd party pix. They now want 400 snoojits for the privilege. I now use PostImage or SmugMug since all my 65 PhotoBucket uploaded images have been arrogantly wiped by them - robbing varmints.
