Picked it up Saturday afternoon, went out Sunday morning to wash the bike , fit the new screen over the nicely polished clocks and spend the day riding... should only take a few minutes to fit and all day of blatting around the sunny Peak District with a pocket full of various sized washers to adjust...or so I thought.
Left hand bolt came out , bracket went on loosely - funny though that the bolt was aftermarket stainless... hmmm... closer inspection revealed that there might have been a screen on this with a previous owner, as the marks I made loosening the blanking bolt lined up with touched up scratches on the headlight bracket.
Round to the right hand side... sonofabitch who tighetend this one , Mighty Joe Young??? I had to drop the fork tube out of the way to get leverage, It came loose, felt tight, came loose... arsebiscuits! As it fell out so did most of the thread! dingle previous owner strikes again! The bolt butcher of Blackpool is how I think of the hamfisted twatwaffle. The poor bike is slowly being given the TLC is deserves, and is responding by burning and leaking less oil and less parts falling off since it's purchase as an emergency ride in September... was a buy then sell on bike but it's maybe found it's forever home...
Ok now down to the nitty gritty, it looks like I will either need to run an M8 x1.25 ( already run thread gauges over it
