Weave on acceleration

I am getting a gentle weave when i accelerate hard from a standstill. The bike gently goes into a side to side slalom and then settles down. This happens only on hard acceleration. Has anyone experiened this?

Inhave checked the bearings and they are good. Any ideas?

Wayne's answer is why I never drink until the riding is done!

My first guess would be a tire issue. Either a funky wear pattern or improper inflation. Check your front tire.

tire pressure...bad tires...


HIGHLY doubt its mechanical. if something is loose enough in the drive system to do that.... i think you'd hear crunches.

Is your bike heavily laden?

It's probably something at the back end tbh.

Check tyre pressure and wear.

Check final drive and swingarm bearings.

front tyre is wearing normally,

rear tire is pretty close to being gone.

haven't checked the rear drive bearings but will do that next.

My rear tyre has just been replaced with a Metzeler Z8- yet to be road tested.. I do get a slight weave changing up through the gears at 5000rpm and hitting the ton. Put that down to 3 piece hard luggage and a fly screen disrupting the autobahn aerodynamics. But no weaving under more gentle use.
Definitely get yours checked out for any problems.

Shot rear tire will do that. I rode for a few weeks on my corded out metzelers, it was slightly wobbly. But I could tell it was tires.

i cant believe it could be bearings. I swear you'd hear them if they were bad enough to produce a wobble.

put bike on center stand and wiggle the rear wheel, there should not be play. And spin by hand to listen. do the same for the front.

I managed to hit the TWI markers on my rear Metzeler Z6 without the cords showing in the centre at 5600 miles. A long run on the twisty roads of Snowdonia National Park probably assisted that. I run at up to 42psi depending on the load.
Must remember to gently scrub in the new one tonight. A heatwave for us at 27C (80F) in England- phew what a scorcher!

i remember watching an English football (Soccer) match a few years back, and the commentator say something just like that..

"it's a right scorcher on the pitch" Please. it was "only" 29c. LOL. It was august here, and 94(35c) outside.

Well it's gonna be hot in the Netherlands, the next few days. Up in de 30's Celsius. But that's not the real problem. Humidity up to 80% is. Wednesday 31, Thursday 34, Friday 32 and Saturday, when de Tour de France starts in the Netherlands, up to 36 degrees Celsius. New rear tyre has made bike much better on corners and damaged road surfaces. So a definite improvement.

It's going to hit 30C today. Longer breaks between sets at Wimbledon. Guess the aircon has failed?
Yesterday I had my one off annual opening of the vents in my leather jacket. The temperatures will be back to normal next week.

London is looking at 35c today - apparantly it's more like 40 on Centre Court at Wimbledon.

I'm sitting here in the office freezing my jumblies off because the others in the room want the sodding air-conditioning on.
