Sad end to a good cause

I recently found myself part way through a 3000 km trip sharing alpine roads with literally thousands of other bikes.
I soon discovered they were on an annual charity ride to raise money for childhood cancer.
A great cause, but this years ride will be remembered for the three riders who were killed in three separate accidents.
And the three families and groups of friends who are devastated.
According to a newspaper report each was a single vehicle accident.
