New to group 2007 R1200R
Just a note to say hello to the group. I've been reading since this summer when I picked up my black with white stripe 2007 R1200R. I bought it with 16k miles on it from a childhood friend of mine who happens to own/manage the Air Hawk Seat Company. Maybe a few of you have met him, his name is Steve Peyton, great guy and he's at all the motorcycle shows. This is my first street bike after many years of riding dirt. I flew from Utah to St. Louis to pick it up and ride it back. 2400 miles by way of Texas and Colorado. I tell you, at first I thought...what the heck have I done! Compared to my WR450 this thing was a monster between my legs. Big, bulky...foreign. By the time I got home I had driven through 110 degree weather, bugs that made me look like I had been in a paintball contest, a driving rainstorm, and a trip up Pikes Peak. By the end of the trip I was in love. I also learned a few things on the trip: don't wave at eighty miles an hour, don't eat BBQ and two Dr Peppers on a road trip when it's 110 degrees outside, an open face helmet at 85 mph is a no no, secure your ipod-they don't survive hitting the pavement at 85 mph, always have a rainsuit even if no rain is forcasted, My only farkle to date is a rear top case so my wife has something to rest against, the bike came with side cases. 1000 dollars for her to have a backrest...holy cow. So, now for the best part of my story, my wife has accepted a position at Ramstein AFB Germany, we leave this January for a five year assignment. My R is going with me, we are touring Europe on my Beemer! And when we're not driving the R we'll tool around in our Audi A6 2.7T. We'll fit right in I think.

Welcome, Willy. What I wouldn't give to take delivery in Berlin and break it in in Bavaria. BTDT with a 335 coupe. That euro-delivery program creates customers for life. What a ride. There's always Edelweiss tours.
Happy touring to you and the missuz.

Thank you! She's a beauty! I tried to get a vanity plate that said BLKOPS.. but no dice in Utah...too many letters. Next I tried R12R which was a no go as well. Settled on BMWR.
