Ride maps

Post by Catchina »

rockbottom posted this in the BMWMOA thread - thought this could have it's own topic.

That is a great map, I am in the Rochester NY area maybe I'll try some of those rides when I can. Has anyone done this for western NY state?

That's cool. I have a page of Google maps for New Mexico. I wonder if there should be a place for that on this board, or if we should just use the other sites that are available.

That's a cool idea. I especially would like to see your routes in NM. Just a map shows up on the link, ie, no routes.

Great idea! I have a few I could contribute.

Mebbe this should be over in the "Great Rides" section of the forum? (rather than the R12R section?)

Ride maps (good roads to ride on) are a bit different than the ride/trip reports that are in the Great Rides section. Maybe ride maps needs it's own section?

Just in case some are not aware, there are a few websites that feature good motorcycle roads, e.g., motorcycleroads.com, motorcycleroads.us and a number of others.

However, many of these sites have dated information, many are riding cruisers, many are very short rides, some have no associated maps, etc.

So, information by kindred riders would be useful.

Example, on a recent ride to Colorado I found Hwy 43 in extreme NW Arkansas, a very cool sweeper ride. It got me from NW Ark to SE Kansas, clipping the NE corner of OK.

Trust me--none of those on my map are cruiser roads. My Ultra Classic riding buddy refuses to go with me anymore.
