Confused about 2011 R1200R accessories

Post by janoll »

I just took possession of a 2011 R1200R and have been looking to accessorize the bike with engine guards/crash guards, a larger windscreen, and maybe some fog lights. The problem is, I can't seem to find these items that will fit my '11. Are these things unavailable, even from BMW Motorrad? Any help you can give is appreciated.

BTW, my '11 is red, and I'm loving it. My previous bike, an '07 F800ST was nice, but the R1200R is much more comfortable, better power, very nice. Loving the R motor.

Thanks,

Joe

I saw a Ztechnik ad where they said the windshield for the 2011 is "coming soon."

I followed your trail--I traded a 2008 F800ST for a 2010 R1200R.

For me the R1200r seemed like a natural progression.

Welcome Joe !

Fear not: The accessories will be coming down the pipeline. We all suffered the same wait when the 2007 first edition of the RR came out.

The 2011 redesigned the windscreen mount, and the new engine has different bolt patterns for engine guards and such, so most all the current stuff will not mount.

We absolutely will assist you in spending your money to treat "Farkle Virus". It is incurable, so expect to have inoculations from time to time to control the symptoms.

Welcome to the club of non-farkleable 2011 owners.

However!... if one of your farkling plans includes an aftermarket seat, such as a Corbin, let me know. I happen to have the only Corbin seat in existence that will fit a 2011 R1200R and it's for sale. Great seat, almost brand new, but it doesn't work with the new panniers that I bought because it hugs the bike closer than the stock seat does (the pannier straps go under the seat on my new Ortliebs).

Thanks for the offer, but I'm happy with the stock seat for now. Maybe after a few thousand miles I'll be in the market.

LOL on the "farkle virus". I have developed a case recently and should get the inoculation before the money runs out.

Ummm.... I hate to break the news, but it never, ever ends. Lack of money has no effect at all. There is always something else to trigger an attack. Your are doomed.

Have some Cool Aid...
