Morton's Spring Fling this weekend?

Post by deilenberger »

Who (besides John M and I) is gonna be there? I know mod Herb is - but he's riding an old bike.. :) How many R12R's are we gonna see, and if there are enough, anyone want to meet for a beer in the hotel bar Friday night? (I'm assuming there IS a hotel bar.. have to go look..)

Hi Kevin,

As around - someone there may know where I'm hiding. Should be there tomorrow about noonish (I'm in Stephen's City VA for tonight - great ride today from NJ..)

Kevin, I assume the red '11 was your bike? Sorry I missed seeing/meeting you. There was also a plain black (no stripes) of '07-10 vintage, didn't get to meet that rider either. I did meet John M with his Granite R12R - since we ride together.. :)

The hotel fish dinner Friday was memorable for mediocrity, in contrast to the rally dinner last night which was notable for being the best rally feed I've ever had. Morton's did a great job, and lots of thanks go to Steve Anderson for making it happen. BTW - interesting talk by Lawrence K (I won't try spelling it - I'd slaughter the name..) of BMW-Motorrad.. that I'm not allowed to tell you about since we were all sworn to secrecy.. and some great riding in the area, I'm signing up now for next year.. :)

I was between bikes at the critical moment for this event, but I will not miss the next one. Morton's is the best dealer in the world!

I look forward to many more events and riding my new bike. I was at the rally, but I had to work so many hours before the event I was dead tired so I didnt get to enjoy much. Hopefully next time I will be rested and get to meet more of you guys.

From what Steve Anderson said - you're his best customer.. :) When he mentioned he had a customer who traded in the S1000RR for an R1200R - I just said "He came to his senses.." Steve is a very old good friend..

Hehe, well I guess I did come to my senses after all. I sure have enjoyed the R12 so far. Steve is indeed a great guy and friend!

Kevin:

It was great talking to you. Your red R12R is quite striking, especially with the dark wheels.

I too am already thinking about attending next year's Spring Fling. Morton's did a great job organizing it. The dinner Saturday night was excellent.

For me, though, the stars of the weekend were the local roads. I had heard that VA39 was to-die-for, and it really was, especially the section through Goshen Pass. When I encountered light rain after arriving in Millboro on Saturday morning, I had no choice but to retrace my route back to Lexington on 39 again. Damn! The BRP was heavily cloaked in fog Friday afternoon, and I came upon an accident scene involving cruisers. Hope they made out OK. US501 & VA43 are also noteworthy rides. Even US60, which Don & I took over the Blue Ridge yesterday, was awesome (hopefully, it'll get its lane-divider paint job soon).
