Without it, forums die. If the answer to everything is "Do a search", with the implied assumption that there is nothing new under the sun and nothing ever changes, then the continued operation of a forum would be unnecessary: just archive it and let everyone do a search.
I'm a member on Jess' forum and I'd agree wholeheartedly. Instead of saying "do a search" we could say "look here" - althouth only the main url comes up for me so I've not been able to do that (And I should look in the FAQs before I aske someone to help me). Sure works on that forum.
I don't mind re-hashing a bit - even though sometimes I do think a new member would be better to go and find an old thread if they can. Sometimes the old threads are hord to find: lord knows, I have enough hassle with the search function! Sometimes, I find my view has changed or I've had some new experience to add when re-hashing.
So on this topic, my 2 cents is that the clear protectors are simle and work well - I have the Australian one coz, well, I'm an Aussie and it was on the market a few years befroe the US ones (so the only one then available). Works very well and mostly I can just forget it's there. Judging by the stone hits on my screen, it's doing its job!
... but it isn't the "
look" of the wire one ... Haven't seen those out here in Aussie stone-chip country in a couple of decades, now that most riders use the clear ones.
