Rich,
Noted. Thanks. I'l check if it's available in UK.
I can live with it 'weeping'. I'm concerned in case it lets go suddenly whilst riding.
On the plus side, I'm running what is effectively a 'total loss' oil system so the bike is constantly being given fresh, clean oil!

Update on my leaking sight glass.Sunbeemer wrote:There are several types of metallized epoxies that can be applied to clean aluminum and then tooled to reform the sealing surface. One such product I've recently used on marine jets is called Bel Zona, and is avaialble in varying hardnesses, up to and including one that is so hard it can barely be drilled. It might be just the stuff to fix your damaged sight glass bore.
My mate Stewart, police motorcycle mechanic and thoroughly good man, has confirmed that the casing has been damaged. He tried a new sight glass and it leaked imediately. He is now going to try to build up the casing where the damage occurred, machine it back down to round (and hopefully perfect) and try oil sight glass number THREE! At £21/$33 a go, this is getting expensive.
Moral of the story, as mentioned by previous posters, is to get it done right first time. And honestly, it was a friend, who assured me he was a 'qualified bike mechanic' who butchered it in the first place. It wasn't me. I recall looking on in horror as he attacked by bike with assorted drills, a screwdriver and a lump hammer! What was I to do? Tell him to stop? The damage was already done and I couldn't just ride away (we'd drained the oil from my bike). So I had to endure the horror of him attacking my bike. He didn't charge me a penny but it has cost me many £'s ($'s) since to put right the damage he caused.
As Homer would say "DOH!"

Re: OIL SIGHT GLASS LEAKING
That really is a pity. Changing the "glas" (made of plastic) is an easy task. Take a heated spine to put a hole in the glas. Then drill a SPAX (drywall) screw in the hole and use this to pull the glas out. Then take a new rubber seal and new glas and insert. That seems to be a tough job as it is easy to tilt the same. Best is to use a nut with the same size of the seal and a rubber hammer any apply some force ...

Just remember, we often learn more from what went wrong than what went right......once it's fixed & you're riding down the road again it will be easy to remember more about what you like about the bike & riding than what you don't.
