rear drive backlash

I am looking at a 2000 R1100RT. I know this is an R board, but the drive train should be similar.

With the bike on the center stand and the gearbox in first gear, how much backlash in the drive train is acceptable at the rear tire? In other words how much of an arc should the rear tire rotate from lock to lock? There is no side movement of the rear wheel.

I think the one I am looking at has an excessive amount of rotation.
