Hi all Accessory Junkies (basically everybody)

It sounds unreal but I believe I have all my farkles installed.
- MV barbacks
- Airhawk cushion
- M-Tec footpegs . This brings the feet about an inch down and forward thereby improving the knee angle by just that little bit I needed to not want to stop anymore except for gas and photos.

I believe that it is easier to make a light bike comfortable by all this than to make a comfortable bike light.

- Original panniers of course and
- Original "touring" windshield. After experiments I have come back to this as the best compromise .

So now I'm waiting for the industry to come up with some other really useful stuff. (Not lights. I think the original light is good and the electrical system is working enough already. Maybe navigation?)
And they could come up with some more durable tires. Strangely each rear tire goes faster than the one before.

Extra lights will improve the safety of the motorcycle, even if you are satisfied with the headlight's output. Fewer people turn in front of bikes when bright aux lights are on.

A farkelers work is never done..

Since the MOA magazine articles on Farkling, I've:

1 - New seat by Sargent
2 - Custom heat pad by me (should have gotten the heated Sargent.. duh..)
3 - Revised GPS mount
4 - Four or five more windshields have been tried, without any great success.
5 - Just ordered a Zadi Tire-Pressure-Monitor system, we'll see how well this works (it's one of the few that uses the same sort of mounting that BMW does for the sensors.)
6 - Added a second HeatTroller for the heated butt (I'm hot poo now!)
7 - Illemberger Hugger (I like their name - I think they're a relative..)
8 - GS crash-plate under the engine after the great oil-filter-puncturing
9 - Barbacks tried and not liked
10 - Kakoka Throttle-Lock tried and not liked (anyone wanna buy this?) - didn't work well with the heated grips.
11 - Speedbleeders added at last brake fluid flush
12 - GS auxillary light switch added - neat - works with my thumb.
13 - And a buncha other stuff I've forgotten

And lots of tires.

Don't dispair - the great part about this group is someone always has something interesting to try.

I don't do music when riding, it would interfere with the voices in my head that sing to me.

Hmmm.. OK. Would be useful I guess especially if hooked to the battery rather than via the CanBus ZFE controller.

Sheesh, every time Don posts, I have to rev up the farkle machinery again!

Don - any problems mounting the GS bash plate? No interference with oil cooler? (I did a search and found an unresolved thread about whether or not it would fit.)

Went right on, no problems. The GS Adventure one might not - it uses a rigid metal bracket on the front edge. The one I put on uses rubber mounts for 3 corners and a semi-rigid mount for one corner. Easy to R&R for oil changes - 4 nuts and it's off. If you want PN's I can probably dig them up for you. I'd suggest getting your own nuts and washers - BMW charges $1.20 for a washer.. grrrr...

I am missing something: "The article"? Which article in which issue applies? I am a BMWOA member since April this year. If the article was before that, would you mind giving a brief summary of materials you used? Even better, would you have a picture?

Seats: I got used to the stocker but don't like it for two up. I get pushed towards the tank. Did my research but I am as wise as before. Couldn't find what I was looking for. Suggestions?

Hmmm.... picture - thought I had one on my website.. but.. nope. I basically used some aluminum perf-metal, cut it to the size of the front of the oil cooler (with the frame off) - put some foam tape around the edges so it wouldn't rub on the cooler and stuck it behind the oil-cooler frame. Been there for about 25,000 miles now. I'll have to dig out a picture of it. The articles were before April - about a year before or more. I really should do a catch-up article since I've changed/added lots of stuff since I did those.
