Sorry but newbie question. The exisitng post related to maintenance does not clearly answer it.
The maintenance manual states "approx. 0.85 Quart or Up to fill plug" when bike on center stand.
I followed the second method and ended up filling the transmission slighly over a 1 Quart.
Calling around BMW dealers service dpt I get different answers. What do you do or recommend?
Are there any risks of blowing a seal (drive shaft or main) if 1/10 of quart over or is it a none issue? Thank you!
You kind of can't overfill them...when you've filled up the tranny/FD it will start running down the side of your bike and dripping on the floor. For the sake of argument and so you buy enough oil to do the job it's 1 liter in the tranny and 250ml in the FD.

The tranny is ok to fill until overfilled, but the final drive -you DON'T want to overfill. Only fill the final drive to the BOTTOM of the threads. Otherwise, it'll start leaking and potentially lead to other more costly repairs.

The spec/capacity on my Maint CD says...
Capacity
initial filling l (Imp.pint/USquart) approx. 1.0 (1.76/1.06)
(to lower edge of filler screw)
oil change l (Imp.pint/USquart) approx. 0.8 (1.41/0.85)
(to lower edge of filler screw)
So you can't go wrong w/ filling to the 'lower edge of filler screw'. .85 Qt = 27.2oz
Which, BTW, comes out as almost exactly 1qt (946ml) of M1 75w/140 everytime I change mine....

My manual says .85 qts and that is what I do but I usually check to see that it brings it up to the threads. Has so far. I also know this because when I did service last week, there were 3 Mobil 1 qt. jugs sitting on the shelf with .15 qt. left in them! I just used one of the leftovers to combine with the latest 0.15 qt leftover to fill the final drive. All the same weight and brand of course.

I am still learning this machine as it will become my daily commuter and I will make sure to read the different existing posts before asking questions. Thank you!
