I have a V-Stream windshield on my R1200R that buffets the hell out of my head at highway speed.
I'm starting a cross country trip this weekend ( http://www.michaelb1.com) and I don't feel like dealing with it for 6000+ miles.
Rather than go through all the trouble of selling it and buying a new one I thought I could just mod this one.
I'm thinking I could cut a couple of inches off of it so that my head would be in clean air rather than in the vortex coming off the top egde of the shield.
Has anyone ever cut one of these before? What do you use to cut plastic like this?

I cut my Parabellum down a couple of years ago with a dremel tool. Worked great and I sanded the edges down with regular sandpaper and you would never know it was cut down. It also made a big difference in buffeting AND noise.

Bingo! I thought about using the dremel. What tip did you use?
So you were getting the buffetting before you trimmed it down?
How did you do it?
I'm thinking I should tape it, mark the line with a grease pencil, then start cutting.

I know there are a lot of variables but how low did you cut in relation to your head height? Is the top of the shield 2" inches below your site line? 3"?

Re: How to Cut/Trim windscreen
I used a #426 reinforced cutting wheel. There wasn't a lot of buffeting really. It was more about the noise coming off the top of the shield. It was at about mouth level. Now it's about 6" or 7" below eye level. I was interested in the BMW 380 screen and kind of used that height measurement when I cut mine down.
I used the blue painters tape to tape up the areas where I would be cutting.
I marked the centerline at the height I wanted it at.
I hand drew 1 side in pencil to the centerline.
Went over that in black Sharpie.
Took pieces of paper taped together and traced that line. Then cut the pattern out
Flipped the template paper over and taped it and traced that line on the other side.
When cutting, I really just scored the shield the first go around. No need to cut all the way through, especially in the curved areas.
Sand edges and clean up and enjoy.
You will probably have it easier if you are just cutting the top off.
