Cylinder Head Repair

I've got the distinction of learning how well the R1200R crashes. Only real damage from my low speed down is my ego and my right cylinder head. Anyone had experience replacing the cylinder head cover?

Be curious as to the cost and the difficulty, if yoiu did it yourself.

I'm guessing you mean the valve cover. Replacing it takes perhaps 5 minutes. You'll need a torx wrench, and a way to remove the ignition coil. Cost? Dunno - I seem to recall replacement valve covers being around $120, but could be all wet on that.

Is it wet? I thought I had read somewhere the gasket was difficult.

Been there/done that!!! The cost of the valve covers depends on which side. The left is more expensive then the right-oil filler. Chicago BMW has the best prices-had a 20% off list a while ago-may still have it. I believe the right was about 150 the left about 170.

P.S. I might add the SW Motech engine guards are a good way to go-the magnesium covers are pretty easy to damage.
