Another battery bites the dust

The title pretty much says it.

I have to say, it's both a disappointing and scary feeling to be stranded by your bike at a gas station.

Fortunately I was able to get a jump start, and later that night it started - barely, but it got me home.

But, I thought, hey, I've been doing a lot of short hops recently, and using the heated grips a lot - maybe it's just not getting enough run-time to get recharged.

After living on a charger overnight, starting was still sluggish the next morning. Checked the voltage with the bike on - seemed normal, and capped out at 14.3V at RPMs over 2000. (Low beams, no heated grips on.) Long story short, after a couple of really scary starts (e.g. computer reboots *after* the bike splutters to life) and almost-strands, I got a warranty replacement battery yesterday.

If you didn't already know, the battery warranty is only two years.

I really can't wait until Westco or, hopefully, Odyssey develops or lists a replacement for the R12R....

What brand was your original battery which died?
And what brand is your replacement battery?

The original and replacement are both the BMW-branded stock battery, which IIRC are made by Exide.
