Interesting battery info

Post by NeilS »

Looking for something else, of course, I stumbled across a publication by the East Penn Mfg Co. They are allegedly the "world's largest and most modern independent battery manufacturer." I'm not quite sure what that means, but I do know that they make the AGM batteries sold by Westco. Lots of good info there, including the differences between flooded, gel, and AGM batteries and the many ways to kill them.

Here's the link: http://www.eastpenn-deka.com/assets/base/0139.pdf

At least half the AGM batteries sold by Westco are manufactured by Panasonic, imported by MK Battery, and distributed by West Coast Battery. East Penn manufacturers for others, true, but not as true as you indicated.

Thanks Mike, the fact that he used "allegedly" in the original post helps me feel comfortable that he hadn't attempted sneaking one by as an expert. YMMV, but to me it was more for personal information as to the types of construction and their different qualities and not about which brand markets X product.

Safe travels.
