Don't know who remembers my school bus rant from 2003-4. (It was very good! Cited the Constitution's Commerce clause and the Principle of "Quiet Enjoyment".)
Anyway, schools are starting to change the use of buses...

School Buses Face Changes
The Older I Get, The Less I Know.
Re: School Buses Face Changes
Better still. I think they should harness them to a sled, like Huskies, and pull the adult chaperone to school and back in the afternoon. A little whip crack behind them would make them burn some energy!

Nice to see forced busing being destroyed. It's did not work in the 1970's, and won't work now....
oh wait, wrong busing....
"....complain about the long morning hikes, particularly when the route, like Agca's, contains a really big hill. Still, these children have it easier than their parents' generation—when, of course, all routes went uphill, both ways."
In my school we had split sessions due to over population, I had the afternoon shift, so I got to walk downhill both ways.

Freedom is dangerous. Those in power that steal freedom are more dangerous.
Re: School Buses Face Changes
I don't live anywhere near my child's school, so she is on the bus.
But, I assumed people who lived less than a mile would be walking to school anyway (seasonally anyway)
