I don't know about throttlemeister but the Bob' type requires a GS style unit. I did this and it works fine.

You'll need the Throttlemeister for the GS to use the GS handguards. In other words - YES, they are different.

I had the same situation, existing Throttlemeister and new GS hand guards to install. you can make an adapter to use them together or you can call the Throttlemeister folks directly and they will sell you a GS hand guard adapter kit. I bought the kit, I think about $20 however do not recall the exact price, the parts are very nice SS machined parts and worth the money.
Now my problem with the Throttlemeister is that when used with the heated hand grips, the fit changes due to heat expansion. Sure you can shim to make sure it works with the grips off, however after some time with the heat on, the throttle tube is slowly permanently compressed and now I can only use the throttle lock on full hot (not so good on 90 degree days, especially with no cooling air due to the hand guards). Now I will need re-shim to allow for the compressed tube.

per your comments below, my throttlemeister seems to do the same. My used bike came with it so not sure how well it worked new but now it does not hold the throttle grip at all, and only partially when heated. So I may just scrap it anyways and get the plastic $10 wrist rest. Seems like unless you're out west on flat roads w/no cars I don't see how a throttlemeister can be used effectively.
