Sidi Boots

Post by Aslan »

I just got a pair of Sidi Typhoon Gore-Tex boots. Has anyone had any experience with them or other Sidi brands? I know mine are new but the hard protective plastic that protects the ankle bone seems to rub against it causing discomfort. Not sure if this will go away with break-in or should return and try something else. I'd hate to decide to keep them, break them in, and then the problem still exists.

Also any good boot recommendations if I decide to bail on the Sidi?
Thanks.

For many years I had good experience with SIDI boots.
SIDI was a product of ITALY.
Last pair of SIDI boots I purchased were made in Romania  and back they went.
I do not have anything against Romania, but when I get a Russian Caviar,
I do not expect to see on the label "MADE IN CHINA" :) :) :)
About your Sidi Typhoon Gore-Tex boots: Leather will stretch a little.
Plastic will stay the same for ever and ever.
Try ON ROAD GORE-TEX. I have an old model "SYMPATEX" and they are very comfy. :D :D :D
Good Luck.

I have been wearing a pair of Sidi Doha boots all summer. This is a whole different breed of Sidi from the Typhoon or On Road--a low cut summer boot with some cordura breaking up the leather. I don't have much of a frame of reference, but my boots seem to be very well put together (showing no significant wear despite getting used most of the past 100 days, and much less sole wear than I would have expected). I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of padding and by the comfort off the bike. Never had any other Sidi product (and only one other pair of boots made for riding), but this pair has made a very favorable impression.
