Backrest for 2002 r1150r

Post by bdrussell »

I just bought first BMW bike and I am thrilled. My past bikes have been cruisers and this has been a great change. I have one problem. I need to find a backrest for my kids and wife when they ride. I have the factory side bags as well at the small rack between the bags. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I dont use one but a top-box with a rest may be the answer - or have one custom made

The Pirate's backrest is the best for this bike. It's so strong my boys lounge back against it. Not cheap though. You can get then through the Pirate's Lair or Sargent's, (the same backrest) It mounts unter the factory rack and is easy to install.
I don't get caught in the rain, I ride in it on purpose.

+1 on the Pirates Lair Stealth Backrest

I bought one right after I bought the bike. Very well made and increases the load capability of the OEM luggage rack. It is not some "Made in China" piece of junk that will ultimately wind up in a land fill somewhere.

Once the plate is installed under the luggage rack, the backrest can be mounted and un-mounted in less than 10 secs.

Thanks to everyone for the info. Unfortunately, they no longer make the backrest I need. I spoke to the owner via email. I would love to find one if there is anyone that is interested in selling their's.
