I've just started biking and a 2002 R1150RA is my first bike.
I'm planning some trips with my SO who's riding a 2008 F800ST, and we have fitted Cardo Q2 headsets on our helmets. The Q2's are great so far, high sound quality, voice activation works well, and my unit paired quickly with my iPhone! (only gripe: setting up FM radio presets is an exercise in patience)
Also have a Garmin Zumo 550 on order which I'll set up with a RAM mount.
My questions: I want to be able to use either my iPhone or iPod.
1. How can I charge the iPhone / iPod on the bike?
2. How can I listen to music from the iPhone / iPod via the Cardo Q2?
And since I'm the noob, any other advice is appreciated!

Regarding charging...
If you have the BMW accessory socket, you can buy an adapter that converts from that plug to a cig-style 12v socket, then plug the iPhone 12v charger into that. One way to do that would be to use a BMW male to SAE converter, an SAE extension cord to get to your tankbag and then an SAE to cig-style socket in the tankbag. If you don't already have the accessory socket, you can get that from your local BMW dealer. The bike side of the harness is tucked up behind the starter motor (the accessory socket goes in the hole the black plug is covering in the starter motor cover on the left side of the bike). One T-25 screw holds the starter motor cover in place. Remove it and slide the cover straight backwards.
For a cleaner installation, I installed the BMW accessory socket "Y" cable and combined it with an SAE extension cable and ran that up to my tankbag to provide power for everything. It leaves the accessory socket available for other stuff and the power cable tucks up under the gas tank on top of the airbox when not being used. I have more details in this thread:
