Hi all, is this a fault or is it normal

Post by gaz h »

i`ve just purchased a 2003 rockster with ABS, but on the way home i noticed when braking a noise that sounds like electric buzzing, and also when i start the bike the brake failure light flashes but goes out when you set off ridding and does`nt come on untill you restart the bike, is this normal, i`m thinking after reading a few topics on this helpfull forum,
it is servo noise i`m hearing when braking ? and does the abs flash on anyone else`s bike when first started ?
any advice and help would be helpfull, apart from that the bike is superb and love it to bits
cheers Gaz

Yes, the noise and the flashing light is normal. The noises you hear are the brake servos and the flashing light is the ABS system check which goes out when you are underway.

The noise is annoying. You will get used to it, but if like me, you'll never like it.
does anyone know how you can cure the noise ?

Hmmf,

I like the sound personally, makes the bike sound more alive. But, that was one of the first questions I had, before riding away from the dealership.

The servo buzz is cool!

That's the first thing you show to a non-BMW motorcyclist when you should tell them why a BMW is better than a jap in every way 8)

I didn't like the sound at first but later i considered it to be funny. Sounds like the terminator hehe. As if the bike was taken from a SF movie
